What is IETM/IETP?

An IETM/IETP is a portal that manages and distributes technical content and documentation. Using on-line browsers, smart phones Apps or hand-held devices, IETM/IETP enables access to volumes of technical information which may include sound, 3D illustrations, videos ...etc. It enables fast searching and cross-referencing of information and allows users to securely access needed information far more rapidly than in paper manuals.

IETM Classes

Class 0 - Paper: Conventionally printed technical manuals - paper only
Class 1 - Electronically Indexed Page Images: Page images Raster, not live text and may include linking from Table of Contents to specified page (very inexpensive).
Class 2 - Electronic Scrolling Documents: Page oriented, but live ASCII text with SGML/XML tags. May use hypertext to other related areas within the document and may include multimedia.
Class 3 - Linear-Structured IETMs: Linear-structured information utilizing SGML or XML, yet still resembling a paper document. Most often viewed as an indexed PDF file.
Class 4 - Hierarchically Structured IETMs: Hierarchically structured and specifically authored for IETM presentation. Class 5 - Integrated Process IETMs: This class lets the manual interact with different processes. These processes may include expert systems, test equipment, prime equipment diagnostics, intrusive and remote diagnostics, etc.
